My Students

Childhood obesity is a national epidemic, especially among our poorest populations. My students need to learn how to make healthy food choices.

My students live in a high poverty area of Washington State.

They typically do not have books in their homes and perform well below grade level on standardized tests. Childhood obesity is a big issue in my school, and I want to begin to change that. My students need books about healthy food choices so they can influence their families.

My Project

These books are amazing! My students will love reading these easy to read, bright and colorful books about healthy foods. These choices include books about farms, vegetables, protein, and grain. Also included are books about how grapes become raisins and oranges become orange juice. These books are sure to entice reluctant readers, as well as help make a change for the better!

Childhood obesity among the poor is a big issue.

The students at my school and in my classroom need to learn how to make healthy choices in what they eat and what they do. My students need books about healthy foods to help them ask for good food instead of bad!
