Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a diverse background and travel a distance to attend our school. 95% of our students are on free or reduced lunch and all receive free breakfast. Our school is not a neighborhood school and students must apply to attend our school. However, we except all students who meet the minimum requirements which is conduct and attendance in middle school.
We are a wall to wall academy high school with five academies.
The Health Academy students are able to job shadow at neighboring health facilities while attending our school.
Students are able to graduate high school and earn an entry level workplace certificate in a specific field of interest.
My Project
Our Health Academy Students are planning an interactive field day to inspire all students who attend our school to be active and stay active for the entire school year.
An iPad Pro will enable students to enter the statistics of participating students such as weight, blood pressure, lifestyle eating choices, and current level of activity.
An activity day is planned for the beginning of the year and a follow up activity is planned near the end of the year. Individual student's level of activity will be assessed from the beginning to the end of the school year. In addition, students will be given an opportunity to participate in our after school sports club. Our Health Academy Students will be able to compare their classmate's statistics using information saved on the iPad. Online programs using the iPad Pro will also be utilized.
This project will be a multi discipline project provided for all academies at our school.
