This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is pivoting to a healthy "Whole Child" approach. We are implementing exercise and healthy habits on a daily basis. With the goal of increasing our students' physical, as well as emotional health. These materials will be used in school for a health class, as well as afterschool, and in the summer for fitness classes. The weight equipment will be used for strength training, including but not limited to free weight exercises, body weight exercises, aerobics, and anaerobic. The smith machine cage will be used to train students the proper, safe way to use Olympic style weight equipment (free weight bars). The dumb bells and barbells will be used in conjunction with the machine to target different muscle groups and movements. The floor padding will help keep our floor in good shape, as well as provide a safe non slip surface to work out on. The kettle bell set will show students new and effective ways to train as well as the medicine ball. The blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeter units will be used to track changes in health, ranging from blood pressure levels, resting heart rate, oxygen levels and educate on the cardiovascular system while explaining how exercise can increase health and longevity. The balance boards will be used for increasing core strength and balance overall. The weight tree will be used to safely store weights when not in use. All additional weight plates will be used to accommodate students' strength levels. The equipment will be used in conjunction with a class that explains what our bodies are doing when working out versus a sedimentary lifestyle. Thank you!
