This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are playful, entertaining and compassionate. They remain enthusiastic about school even as they continue to heal from the global pandemic. Covid-19 caused uncertainty for everyone which has lead to a global trauma for most people. Families faced job loss, food insecurities, high stress, depression, and other issues. Unfortunately, children also had to endure these conditions with their families. I would like to create a space in my classroom where children can work out their emotions and thoughts. The clay will help the children activate their senses and work out their emotions. The paint will encourage them use their imagination and give them a beautiful place to feel free and creative. The emotional curriculum books will provide a guided lesson where students can become more self-aware, identify when and why they are feeling the way they are, and more capable of handling big emotions. The clear bins and rolling storage cart will help keep the art supplies organized and fresh for continued use. The file folders will be used to keep the children's art throughout the year so we can publish their art at the end of the year. The laminating sheets and portfolio folders will preserve their art as a keep sake. Art is a great way to work through trauma, emotions, thoughts and stress. This project will help foster healing through art.
