Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Who want to hear what everyone else is doing on their computer? When we work, we don't want to be bothered by our neighbors' activity! My little firsties have a hard time focusing as it is, and we are easily distracted by any noise in the room. We need headphones to keep us focused on our work.
My students are inner city smarties!
Despite all the hardships in their little lives, they come to school with smiles on their faces. My students are from low-income homes where many parents work two or three jobs, and the kids are home taking care of each other. Many do not have two-parent homes. Most of my students are from immigrant families struggling to survive in our country.
Despite it all, my students bring their little smiles to school every day. Even when things seem to be falling apart for them at home, they come to school eager to learn and have fun!
My Project
We were so excited to receive our new computers from Donors Choose last year. We got really busy right away using them. One thing we learned is that one person's noise was the whole class's noise. My little first graders were so distracted by what each other was doing due to the noise. I really did not want them to turn the noise off, because, at times, the sound effects are what make the learning games fun.
Because of this, we need headphones! With the headphones, my first graders will be able to stay focused on what they are working on, because this is all they will hear. In addition, it would not distract those students that are not working on a computer. Everyone can learn to control their volume!
We would love the headphone splitters in order to be able to use two headphones at one computer. This will help us maximize computers by allowing two students to share one computer.
Your help will help my little first graders remain on task and focused on what they are working on without the distractions of their peers.
We will be able to have two students work on one computer at a time. Please consider helping our classroom's computer usage!
