This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My amazing group of third graders this year are eager and asking to grow their brains. This group of students are creative, hardworking, and unique. They want to be academically prepared for 4th grade by meeting the "Tech" demands.
With limited access to resources, they still have a strong desire to learn.
Most come from low-income households. In addition, all are served free breakfast and lunch. Despite financial challenges, they come to school every morning ready to learn and are always giving their best. They deserve to have appropriate comfortable headsets to achieve academic success using their Chromebooks.
My Project
In our classroom, we use Chromebooks for every academic subject! Each program using the Chromebook requires students to use a headset to listen, learn, and apply their understanding. Since our school site does not offer a 1:1 Chromebook per student this means we have to share devices. We are truly grateful for what we have, but my students have expressed how awesome it would be to have an assigned headset as their own to use for the school year.
My smart students pointed out the benefits to assigning headsets such as sanitation and user responsibility for loss or broken.
We discussed qualities that would be nice in a headset which is why they choose tangle free, soft ear pads, and collapsible to fit into their desks. This headset project will be used by my current students and for years to come.
