Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school serves students who live in a high-poverty area where the crime rate is high. The odds may seem to be against them, but they are overcomers! I want them to know that their teachers and school community will do anything they can to help them be successful. These caring kids are ambitious, determined, unique, and enthusiastic. They have creative and curious minds and it is my job, to keep them engaged, challenged and confident.
My Project
Friday, March 13th was so unlucky for us! We didn't know it would be the last day we were going to be together in the classroom. Fortunately, our district gave the students Chromebooks to continue their education at home so, the kids and I are on Zoom doing lessons and interacting with each other.
Unfortunately, it is hard for them to focus and listen in when there are disruptions going on at home.
Additionally, there are things going on that we don't need to share on Zoom. We've heard foul language in the background, babies sisters crying, cousins playing and dogs barking. My hope is that these headphones will keep the distractions down and the engagement up both during Zoom and during their independent work time!
