Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The school is a Title I school in an urban city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. Coming back to school in person after being out since March of 2020 has brought us many changes. The faculty and staff at my urban setting school have worked tirelessly to ensure that all the students remain safe and happy. Our students are resilient and are working hard every day to adjust to the changes. Headsets are needed so they can take their computer based exams.
My Project
The use of headsets for computer based learning and testing is almost a daily activity for our students. Unfortunately not all families are able to purchase a headset, or send in headsets that are not compatible to the school desk tops and chrome books. Having their own set in school will allow them to label and store the head sets in class and utilize safely and daily without disruption. Students will be able to locate their labeled headset and avoid all of the problems of scrabbling to find one that works. This is especially important during covid, as sharing of headsets is not recommended. This will allow for focusing on increasing their learning!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement, while keep them safe and secure in their learning environment.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
