We have limited computer time, and wish our classroom computers function better than they actually do.
My students are innovative and love creating in an online space. This year we have been using online resources and the Google Apps for Education (GAFE) to create projects, such as our Explorer Reports and State Reports. Moreover, we have used online sources to collaborate with each other. Technology has given a voice to all of the students in our classroom including the shyest and quietest students. We would love to have more time to collaborate online and be more innovative.
My Project
I am requesting six Chromebooks to use in the classroom and for stations to complete STEAM projects and to publish their writing. Our Chromebooks will be used for stations, as well as other learning opportunities such as during Writer's workshop. We will use Google Classroom and GAFE to store our work in the cloud. We will also be able to access online tools. We will be able to use this online space as a collaborative space, in addition to a space that we can publish and share their learning with others. More meaningful projects will be made possible by using working technology where we will be able to connect, collaborate, communicate, think critically, create, share, and learn.
Educational technology is a big part of my teaching philosophy.
It is my hope that I'm not only teaching my students the skills to survive in today's society, but I am also giving them the opportunities to be innovative and creative to be the change for tomorrow's society. They are full of ideas and knowledge surrounding how we can improve and incorporate technology in the classroom as well as in the 21st century.
