This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine sitting at a computer and being able to hear your neighbor's computer because of having no headphones.
Our school is a Title I school and the majority of students qualify for free lunch.
My students are English language learners in third grade. My students come from a high poverty neighborhood with a very diverse range of home structures. My students are enthusiastic learners, eager to learn, but some of them are struggling with reading and math.
My Project
I am requesting 21 pairs of headphones so that each student can have his/her own pair to use during independent work time. We have some computers and kindles in our classroom. Some of my students are not working at grade level in reading and math. There is a great variety of websites with interactive games and lessons that can help them with practicing different skills that we learn in class. However it is very difficult for all of us to learn if they have them with the volume on. The headphones will help us keep the noise level down during our work time.
My project is very important because these headphones will allow my students to work quietly during independent work time.
They will also be able to work at their computer stations without having to hear their neighbor's computer.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
