This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I currently teach a 4th/5th grade classroom of 28 students. My students are enthusiastic learners with very different needs. I am asking for support in providing them each with headphones in order to enhance their learning. The headphones (with microphones) will help them during independent work, group work, and it will help them during state testing.
This year we are a large group of enthusiastic learners!
And while this is wonderful and exciting it does mean that our classroom is not the quietest place in the world a lot of the time. Thus, having some headphones for each student can make a world of difference in their learning environment. For example, I have a group of students who are learning a second language, and they have many assignments where they have to record their voice and/or listen to audio transcripts of what they are reading. I also have students that have sensory sensitivities and having headphones helps them concentrate during independent work. We will also be using the headphones during tech time. The programs that we use sometimes require the students to listen to an audio or to record their voice, having headphones will make this a much better experience.
