My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!
With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.
My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.
My Project
My students need headphones for our laptops. We have a number of older headphones that are too large for their heads and are beginning to stop working. I have purchased four of these headphones already and they are a major hit in my classroom. These headphones are clear and help block out outside sound.
With headphones that do not work, students are missing out on great online resources.
We use an online program for spelling tests. Without headphones that regularly work, they have a hard time hearing the words and sentences. This causes them to miss words that they knew how to spell. This project would give me a class set of headphones so that everyone can have headphones that work!
