Headphones to Hear

My students need headphones for the computers and laptops they have access to at school to listen to the math and science programs available that support our curriculum.

My Students

I love my students. We belong to a Title 1 school. Each of my classes is maxed out, sitting at 25 students per class. Our school is located just behind section 8 housing. The majority of the students in my classes are low income; therefore, I have to provide the majority of the school supplies. Our school is 65% free and reduced lunch.

We provide support before and after school through clubs and programs to make the school a safe learning environment.

I specifically assist with math team and Lego robotics clubs. There are students that come to my room for extra assistance in math when they just can't get it. I encourage all my students to try their best and they put forth 100% effort most of the time.

My Project

These headphones will allow my students to listen to their math and science material when they access the online programs that assist our curriculum. The math programs allow students to access online teachers and watch video tutorials on how to solve math problems. My students complain because I can't let them turn the volume on when my entire class is in the computer lab or in my classroom due to the fact that it is very disrupting. Most of my students cannot afford headphones and this greatly affects their online learning. With today's technology, students are expected to have access to the computers. It makes it difficult to hold high expectations for these students when they cannot listen to the material that goes with these online math and science programs.
