My Students
Each day I have students walk into my classroom from all walks of life and yet they all have the same thirst for knowledge and compassion. In my classroom, that is exactly what they get. These students have defeated the odds. Some encounter hardships that some people may never experience.
Music may be their only solace.
I am truly grateful when students come to me and say "Thank you for teaching me music today." My students light up my day and I hope that I do the same for them. They are a blessing.
My Project
The piano keyboard lab is a place for my students to grow and learn in a safe learning environment. We learn technique and musicianship through innovative lessons including manipulatives like toy animals to learn the names of the keys, to Smartboard activities where students play along with compositions they have created. Both musical literacy and improvisation can be found in our keyboard lab lessons.
Playing the keyboard is a powerful way to express what cannot be put into words.
Through our lessons, students foster a sense of identity both in their selves and among the classroom community. With our new headphones, all students get to experience the magic of playing the keyboard.
