Headphones, Microphones, Read!

My Students

My amazing students make up one of four fifth-grade classrooms in a diverse school of about six hundred students and one of two inclusion rooms. Together, we are part of the largest elementary school in our district.

These incredible fifth graders come to school fully trusting me to provide them with opportunities to grow and succeed.

With working in an inclusion classroom, we have a variety of needs, from low performing academic to behavioral needs. These students deserve a learning environment that matches their needs, creative lessons that challenge their thinking and continuous support to prepare them for the future. It is my goal to make sure I have all of these things in place so they can reach their full potential.

My Project

In these very different times, it is important for teachers to become creative with how they run their classrooms. I believe having students continue to read in their reading groups is crucial to building strong readers. I would love to have headphones, with microphones, so students can stay socially distant but continue to read with their group. Students would utilize Google Meet.

The headphones would make it easier to block out noise and focus on the reader, and the microphone will allow them to read clearly to their group.

This worked great for those who had their own headphones, but without everyone using them things become a bit loud and hard to follow.
