My Students

I work at a diverse, urban, Title I school in Louisville, Kentucky; our students are African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, and many other races too. We have many students who are learning English as a second language. Our school is in an area with high poverty. More than 95 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

I work with striving readers and writers who, despite their struggles, are eager to learn and work hard each day.

My students face many barriers to academic success, but it is my goal to help them succeed and reach proficiency.

My Project

This year our district provided each student with a Chromebook for use at both home and school. This has helped us to increase student engagement, individualize instruction, and teach important technology skills too. However the noise created by the Chromebooks has become a big distraction.

By donating to our project, you will help us to provide each first grader with a pair of headphones, increasing students' attention and focus, and ultimately increasing their academic achievement.

These headphones will help to reduce the noise level in our classroom and limit the number of distractions. Please help us to provide a calmer environment and ensure our students' success!
