Headphones: Key to Concentration for Online Practice & Assessment Success
Help me give my students headphones that are a necessity for maintaining concentration during independent work time when using educational apps to practice reading and math skills and while taking district online assessments.
If you ever want to witness the emotion of pure joy brought on by a 7-year-old's quest for and attainment of knowledge or relive a moment from your childhood when all that you saw, smelled, touched and questioned resulted in new learning, join me in my 1st grade classroom any day of the week.
I am the lucky teacher who has the honor of leading these inquisitive young minds through learning experiences each day.
Their excitement and wonder for all that is new is contagious.
What makes our class even more special is that the children who make up our group of learners come from many different cultural, economic and social backgrounds. In our class, we are learning important life lessons from each other each day.
My Project
During reading, math and intervention workshop times, students are assigned to various independent, partner and small group stations designed to provide either remediation or enrichment learning opportunities for each child's specific areas of need. Some of these stations require students to listen and respond to a learning activity on an iPad app. The same goes for the online district assessments that all of our children take.
Having access to quality, dependable headphones for each child in class is a definite key to success when using technology in classroom.
Headphones promote concentration not only for the students using the headphones but, also, for those nearby who would have otherwise been distracted by the sound of the online activity.
