Headphones Help Keep Noise Down!

My Students

My classroom is the noisiest room in our building! My kids are constantly on the move, learning to communicate more, and hard at work exploring and investigating our environment.

My students have significant disabilities that often involve significant sensory differences.

I work in a self-contained special education classroom and several of my students wear noise canceling headphones every day. Others have trouble filtering out background noise.

My Project

In my classroom, we use technology for a significant portion of our instruction. iPads and computers are a preferred activity for many of my students, and they are willing to engage with these forms of instruction for significantly longer than they might with only a teacher. With 6 kids using iPads, teachers talking, and kids getting frustrated or expressing themselves, it can get pretty loud! We need access to high quality headphones to keep our environment more peaceful and serene. We also need an easy storage system to keep them organized!

Access to the listening center will not only allow us access to headphones, it will also bring my students more opportunities for social interaction by being able to listen to stories read aloud together.

Our classroom will be quieter and students will be more engaged in their learning!
