Headphones Giving Us A Head Start

Help me give my students headphones and mice. It is difficult for first graders to manipulate the tracking pad and understand directions without headphones and mice. This will help us to make good use of technology.

My Students

Hi There, My name is Mr. Dupaix and thanks for checking out my Donors Choose page! I teach first grade at Oakcrest Elementary, a wonderful school in West Jordan, Utah. We have an active school community with bright and engaged learners. I have taught first grade for 14 years and I LOVE it! First graders are bright, imaginative, energetic, and love learning new things. I believe in creating a strong classroom community where students feel nurtured, challenged, and special. My students know I have high expectations for them and want them to succeed in all that they do!

My Project

The headphones and mice will help students to be actively engaged in reading. We will use Lexia that will provide fun and exciting games to teach letters, sounds, and phonics. This allows young readers to use headphones to have individual instruction that is tailored to meet the needs of each students' skill level. The mice will help them to better drag and manipulate the words and activities in an easier way for first graders that tracking pads cannot. This will free up my students' ability to get through more of the material on Lexia in a less stressful way that will help to be more focused on the content.
