This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom come from differing backgrounds, but all of them bring a unique personality to our community of learners. My students come from low-income/high poverty homes, and with that comes different challenges. As their teacher, it is my duty to provide the safest and warmest environment for them to have their best opportunity for learning. My students need me to be more than just their teacher. Sometimes I'm a nurse, counselor, friend, mom, or superhero, and with that, I strive to help my students in any way possible.
My Project
Our school district has decided to do at home virtual learning for at least the first nine weeks of school. The schedule so far is students will be expected to be online with me teaching live for the first half of the day. The second half of the day will be spent on the computer doing specials (i.e. art, music, PE, etc.) and small groups. The district is providing devices and hotspots to families that need them. However I know many of my students also have siblings at our school and live in apartments or small houses. Therefore, they may not be able to find a quiet place to do their virtual learning. This is why I would like to provide each of my students with headphones and headphones that have a microphone so they can respond to my questions or talk to their fellow peers.
