Headphones for the Computer Lab

My students need 55 headphones during their Tech Ed class to listen to videos pertaining to assignment for the day.

My Students

Have you ever tried to listen to an instructional video while others are trying to listen to their video? Or been stuck watching a video that you already know the information to and would like to move on, but can't?

I teach a 6th grade Tech Ed class at our middle school.

The intent of the class is to teach these students how to be digital citizens. We cover many topics including, citing resources, cyber bullying, legally obtaining pictures from the Internet and creating morning announcements and their own website. Many of the lesson include watching instructional video on the computer.

My Project

If each student had their own headphones to listen, they could move through the videos at their own pace, rewatch a video for information or watch only the videos needed. One lesson includes the students watching videos about cyber bullying and the effect on kids. The students watch other teenagers talk about their experiences on social media websites. Other videos include how to make iMovies, Keynote presentations, Prezi presentations and building websites.

These headphones will allow my students to watch these instructional videos at their own pace, instead of watching as a whole group.

As one of my students stated "This class is the only class I see helping me in my adult life." The lessons I teach are intended to help these students navigate the digital world in their future.
