My Students
Our students are in a lower class, rural area. We have a large number of students who are being raised by grandparents, as well as a large number of transient students. Many of our parents are in the service industry which was hit hard when everything closed and is just starting to recover. These guardians need to work and need to know their child is safe and healthy at school.
Students are anxious to come back to school and be safe.
They and their parents need to know that we are going to do everything possible to keep them healthy and safe.
I don't know what to expect in the upcoming months, but I do know that I want my students going home and telling their family that their teacher is keeping them safe and healthy.
My Project
Two years ago, Donor's Choose donor's gifted my class a set of headphones. We shared them between the 3 Science classes I have. This year, each student needs to have their own so there is no sharing.
About 1/3 of my students will bring their own earbuds or headphones - which is great!
The rest will need to have their own set. I prefer the headphones as I think the sound quality is better and some of the extra background noise is eliminated and students can focus better. Each student will have a bag in which to put their headphones and the headphones will be assigned to an individual students. This gift of headphones will allow my students to listen to my Science videos in a safe manner. My students are taught early on that the headphones are gifts and that they should respect and appreciate that gift AND THEY DO!
