Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in the South Bronx and are in a Title I school. My students are resilient, energetic, kind, and welcoming. They love arts and crafts, math, science experiments, singing, and dancing. They are filled with passion and enthusiasm to learn, no matter what they are going through at home. Most of my students this year had come from other countries and who did not speak English.
What makes them so special is that no matter what they've been through they still manage to come to school with smiles on there faces.
They love to talk and share ideas with anyone who would listen. When they see a classmate crying or get hurt, they go and check in on them. They are compassionate and understanding at such an early age! They are amazing!
My Project
This school year has been very different when it comes to our learning environment. I would love to provide my students with their own pair of headphones. This will allow them to block out the noises around them. This will allow them to focus, and do their best. Most of the times I need to mute students because it is very loud in their households, either other children conducting their own learning, adults working from home or other background noises from their neighborhoods or family members.
Some simply just do not have a quite space where they can focus and do their work.
Headphones will give them the best chance when participating in zoom calls, online materials, math and reading.
As they get more and more independent during this remote learning experience, I want my students to be able to focus and put aside what is going on in their surroundings.
