Headphones for Our Computers Will Help Us Concentrate!
My students need 51 sets of headphones in order to individually watch, record, and edit the audio for digital videos, podcasts, and recordings on laptops at school.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With technology budgets being cut left and right, my students and I know we're lucky to be at our Arts and Technology college-prep high school for first generation college-bound students. But, this year our supplies budget has been slashed even more.
My students come from families who are hoping to see their children be the first to graduate from college.
As their Digital Media Arts teacher, I am charged with the task of designing rigorous, college-prep projects that also inspire the creative, technical, and critical minds of my students. They have taken a risk to attend our new school and we are in need of support to keep technology and the arts central in our school. Our community is growing, our wait-list is expanding, our test scores are rising, and the future is looking bright for my students. We are leaders in project based learning, authentic assessment, and technology integration. Other school leaders and students constantly visit our little campus to see the gains our students prove through their application of technology, science, math, and the humanities at our blockbuster exhibition nights. Then, students head into the real world as interns to test their skills in labs, offices, and schools.
My Project
The students at my school frequently use laptops to interact with websites, videos, and digital lessons using audio. Some students have their own headphones, but most do not. It gets very distracting in a classroom when so many different sounds are coming from computers. Headphones for our students will solve this problem! Here are some examples of the ways students would use headphones: 1. Watching digital lessons online that allow students to progress through a lesson at their own pace. 2. Watching political advertisements in order to analyze them for the use of rhetoric and then writing a research paper. 3. Recording audio tracks and then editing them for use on original imovies that demonstrate learning in physics, biology, digital media, AP US history, etc. The list goes on and on!
With your support I am confident that my students will receive an equitable education and a real shot at college success.
Being able to effectively interact with and create digital media will facilitate the development of college going habits and skills that will allow my students to successfully make their way through college and become the first in their family to graduate. Thank you for your support!
