This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is the school's computer lab. Students come in everyday to learn about technology, learn how to type, and do research on the things they are learning in their classrooms.
Because I have the privilege of having all the students from the school in my classroom, I have a very diverse set of students every hour.
When they come into the Computer Lab I see how eager and excited they are to use the computers. The students who are usually difficult in their classroom become so engrossed in the information they are learning that they are the most well behaved student in the class! The computers make learning fun for them and without even knowing it they are learning so much in just one hour!
My Project
I am requesting a class set of headphones so my students will be able to actually listen to the videos they are watching and activities they are doing while in the computer lab. Because the class tends to get really loud I don't allow the students to turn the volume of the computers up more than half way and this makes it very hard for them to hear what they are working on. The headphones will allow the students to transport themselves into what they are watching and actually be able to hear the information that is being transmitted to them.
My project will make such a difference in my students.
By being able to have that listening aspect in their research they will be able to understand the material they are trying to learn about. I firmly believe that technology is an important part of the learning experience and when you turn off the volume of something that was created to make the learning experience fun and more knowledgable, you are taking away a very important part of the learning process.
