This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 5th grade language arts and social studies and then 7th grade language support. My students are wonderfully sweet kids who deserve the best that we can give them!
My school is a 5th grade through 8th grade middle school that has predominantly low income families.
The majority of the students at my school are refugees or immigrants, which makes our school wonderfully diverse. My students, both native born and from all over the world, are hungry to learn and love everything about technology.
My Project
My students will use these headphones for many different on-line programs to help assist their learning. Flocabulary is a student favorite that "creates educational hip-hop videos, interactive activities and on-line assessments for students in grades K-12" Brainpop has easy videos along the same lines, and iReady is a program that meets the students at whatever learning level they are on and gives them appropriate lessons. A new program we obtained this year is Mayon. It allows the students to read books on their reading level, in subjects that they are interested in. This is especially good for my English language students because it can read it to them.
Differentiating my instruction is crucial for my students' learning and having these headphones will allow us to use technology to our advantage.
It will also help my English language learners hear multiple speakers which will help them improve their listening and speaking skills.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
