My Students
I have 19 wonderful students in my classroom. They come from families who do not have a lot of money, so they need all the support they can get in terms of obtaining resources that they have access to support their learning.
My students entered my classroom bringing a love and desire to learn.
My students love to hear stories read to them. They get really into stories, reacting as I read. I want to foster that and keep it burning bright.
My Project
My students need sturdy headphones that will not break easily. They will use the headphones to listen to books read to them on the computer and on our classroom iPods while they are at the listen to reading center.
Listening to reading will support their reading development by offering them the opportunity to listen to modeled fluent readers.
They will be able to hear how skilled readers read with expression and in phrases rather than word by word. They will also be able to follow along with written text, which will support them in developing sight word recognition as well as learning other vocabulary words.
