Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are energetic, kind, thoughtful kids. They are between the ages of 7-9 and in an integrated co-teaching class. Many students are English Language Learners or Students with Disabilities who come from high-poverty homes. Many students share homes with several other families making online learning difficult sometimes. Regardless of where my students come from, they always show up with a positive attitude, are motivated to learn, and continuously show initiative to help others. Our school and my classroom truly serve many different purposes for these kids. My students love school and they are eager to learn back in the classroom again! The COVID-19 pandemic has helped many of them get familiar with technology, but many of us are still learning. Many of them have expressed that they truly enjoy working on their Chromebooks and devices to learn and it has become a crucial skill for them to be able to work independently on their devices.
The last "normal" complete year of school my students had was in kindergarten!

My Project
The use of headphones for our students is crucial for their everyday learning. Integrating technology in our class is a top priority to help students gain important life skills, research, read, take assessments, watch and enjoy time for social-emotional learning, as well as to help gain independence and possibly prepare for a school shut down due to COVID. To help prevent the spread of germs, students each have their own individual set of materials. They have their own school supplies and they are unable to share. Headphones are no exception.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus during online learning, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are available to them or they're trying to complete a task with someone else's volume up. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
