Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful kids who love to learn and have fun. They come from working class families who work hard to provide for them. Unfortunately, many of them face difficult challenges due to economic and social hardships.
They enjoy learning and sharing what they have learned.
Once a month parents are invited to visit the classroom and have their child read to them. This is one of their favorite activities. I try to have volunteers come and sit with those who do not get a "visitor" to read to.
My Project
My students have access to tablets where they work on engaging math or reading activities. These activities are interactive. They listen to books, answer questions, and are given feedback. I try to have headphones for all of them to use during this time. I bought each of them headphones at a local discount store but they often break or stop working.
Having good quality headphones that are made for children will make a big difference.
These headphones will fit comfortably and will not be too loud for young listeners. The soft vinyl ear padding can be easily wiped for good hygiene. The children will only focus on what they are reading or on trying to reach the next level in their math program.
