My students need headphones for when they forget their own and a beanbag chair for a more relaxing class environment.

My Students
Students in my class are surrounded every day by technology and tough problems to solve. However, my students are still teenagers and they sometimes forget the materials that they need to succeed! This project will help students be relaxed and prepared to solve their own problems.
Students at our school attend often while facing critical challenges at home and in the community.
Many students attend because of the inspiration and challenge provided in our classrooms, as well as the relationships that we are able to build. Increasing technology opens new doors every day.
Students at this urban school in Missouri are driven to succeed. When placed in a challenging, tech-savvy classroom, they have shown the ability and drive to create projects that are both interesting and helpful to the community which our school serves. Students have been through challenges themselves, and many have a great desire to give back to the community by conducting projects that are real and meaningful. Unfortunately, a lack of access to technology makes it more difficult to plan and carry out these projects. Not impossible, mind you. We're still doing amazing things every day, just with a bit more difficulty sometimes.
My Project
Students will use the headphones to complete tutorials that teach both content and skills. My class pushes students towards using creativity in projects. These projects naturally extend to more individualized learning throughout the year. Some tutorials teach content and other tutorials are skill-based. Already this year students in my class have learned how to use Microsoft Excel to analyze survey data graphically and use Google Drive to collaborate on projects. As responsible as I'd love to claim my students always are, they sometimes forget headphones of their own! These 10 sets of headphones will help students remain productive and motivated even on days when they forget their materials.
The second half of the project is for a bean-bag chair. Research has shown that alternative seating helps increase student focus and learning in the classroom (Merritt, 2014). This chair will allow students who need sensory sensory help to have a different place to sit and learn.
A donation to this project is a donation to support student creativity and problem-solving skills.
My method of teaching aims to provide students with all the resources they need and push them to find the solutions to their own problems. This is how the professional world looks and this is what they must be prepared to achieve. Your donation will help especially those students of mine who are a bit forgetful, but just need a little help with their preparedness!
