Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the next generation of artists, journalists and storytellers. Some are reporters and editors, others are photojournalists, broadcast journalists and filmmakers.

My students are talented, ambitious and award-winning.

Many have moved on to study filmmaking or journalism in college. Some have made a career out of their passion for storytelling.

My students are as diverse as their Texas community. At our large public high school, about 44 percent of students are considered "economically disadvantaged," and 55 percent are considered "at risk."

My Project

The journalism and film programs at our school are rapidly growing. A third Mac Lab Classroom is being built this summer to accommodate that growth. Our new Mac Lab Classroom will be used by sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in advanced film and broadcast classes. These students need headphones in order to listen to and play back audio — both voice and music — that they create and edit as part of their film and broadcast stories.

Donating to this project will ensure that each computer has its own set of headphones, which will allow all students to fully participate in classroom activities and projects.

A donation to this project is an investment in the next generation of artists, journalists and storytellers.
