My Students
My students are a curious and talented group of third graders in an ICT special education integrated classroom. Most of the students are on free or reduced-price lunch and come from low-income neighborhoods. We try to make our classroom an oasis, a happy and peaceful place that fosters learning and exploration.
It is important for me to provide my students with all of the resources they might not have otherwise since school is often the stepping stone to break the cycle of poverty in families.
I am passionate about what I do and seeing my students learning and growing justifies all of the hard work that I do.
My Project
As technology becomes more present in our everyday life, it is important to give students experience and skills working on computers. There are so many amazing educational resources now available for students to use on our school computers! However, as a teacher in an ICT classroom, many of my students can not access the material without having it read aloud to them.
Giving my students headphones to use with their computers will give them the chance to receive a reading accommodation that will help them access computer programs.
With the opportunity to have text from sites read aloud to them, students will have access to many research and learning opportunities, without being too noisy for their neighbor. Let's give all students the opportunity to use technology in the classroom!
