My Project

My second-grade students are full of curiosity, creativity, and an eagerness to learn. They come from a variety of backgrounds, and many face challenges that make learning more difficult including language barriers, limited access to technology at home, and difficulties focusing in noisy environments. Despite these obstacles, they show up every day with excitement and a willingness to grow.

In our classroom, we use technology to support reading, math, and language development through programs like i-Ready, Imagine Learning, and other interactive platforms.

However, one major barrier to learning has been the lack of quality headphones with microphones. Many students share old or broken headphones, which makes it hard for them to focus or complete audio-based tasks. Some can’t participate fully in speaking activities, especially English language learners who need extra support with pronunciation and oral language skills.

By providing each student with a reliable set of headphones with a built-in microphone, you’ll be giving them the tools they need to engage more deeply with their learning. They’ll be able to listen to lessons clearly, practice speaking in a safe and supported way, and complete assessments independently. This will not only improve their academic skills but also boost their confidence and independence. They will also be able to listen to their favorite books like DogMan and Elephant and Piggie, non-fiction books about dinosaurs, and biographies about soccer stars like Messi.

I am also requesting a book from one of our favorite authors and hand sanitizer for clean hands. Your support will help level the playing field for my students, giving every child the chance to succeed in a quiet, focused, and empowering learning environment. Thank you for helping their voices be heard—literally and figuratively!
