This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 8th Grade U.S. History in an arts and technology magnet program. We are housed in a large, urban, Title I middle school with a limited budget and aging facilities.

My students are gifted, highly-engaged, creative thinkers who love to imagine, collaborate, and create.

They are a diverse group of middle school students who hail from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

As a teacher, I am responsible for creating a curriculum which is both challenging and engaging. My goal with any project is to invest students with the tools they need to improve literacy and critical thinking skills through the use of primary and secondary source documents.

My Project

Welcome to the new normal! As we return to in person instruction, some aspects of distance learning will remain. Students will still be navigating online platforms, utilizing media in instruction, and communicating with others indirectly.

Noise cancelling headphones will make it possible for students to be able to concentrate and communicate in online learning formats, whether in person or virtual.

These headphones will also give students some autonomy as to how they navigate and work through instruction. It will allow them to work at their own pace and not disturb others as many of the lessons include interactive media components.
