Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our low income, high poverty school, I can experience first hand the impact of the arts on kids. We try to give our students the experience of music education. Currently, we offer general music and band.
Occasionally, our students will have sung in the choir at church or have learned to rap through friends and family, but only a few have touched a musical instrument.
Our school is unique, a small school in the heart of the Bronx. We serve from 6th to 12th grades.
They are vibrant students who are eager to learn and to experience the world. I am hoping to continue encouraging our scholars to be creative in a positive manner and help develop their love of the arts.
My Project
I am requesting headphones for students attending in school classes as we learn together. As our students come to school to learn and work in individual classes with their computers, it becomes very difficult when some kids are in different classes.
The classes usually require students to participate in meetings, listening as well as speaking with their teachers.
Now imagine ten students in four or five different meetings at the same time.
Exactly. That would be very hard to do.
That is why we are asking for your kindness to help us to get some headphones for our students. Headphones in the year of a pandemic are a must so we can have each student have their own.
