This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. My students are all different types of learners and have various backgrounds. I have students who do not speak English, students with disabilities, and some students who are homeless.

I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx, New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive food and clothing from the school's charity drives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

In my classroom, we have iPads to help the students learn and enrich their reading, writing, and math skills. The students enjoy their iPad time to practice their math and reading skills, however, one of the best parts of going on the iPad besides the visuals is the sound.

These headphones would allow the students to listen to the sound on the iPad when they are completing reading and math tasks.

The sound is critical to most applications they use, but since we do not have headphones, they cannot hear the sound. Having the iPad on speaker mode is an option, but then it gets distracting and too loud when five iPads are going at the same time. Having these headphones would increase concentration and engagement because they would be listening to their individual iPad and not everyone else's.
