Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are Pre-kindergarten through fifth graders who are full of energy. They visit the library once per week for a scheduled special. In addition, teachers send students go to the library to complete a task or come for a full class activity. Some also come during recess for fun or to mentor younger students. The students have adapted to the challenges thrown at them this past year and are not only surviving but thriving in this very different post-pandemic environment. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love reading diverse books, participating in maker space activities and STEM challenges, and are very curious. There are over 1,400 students in our school! I have a large population of English language learners. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are both general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!

This year will be our 6th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, it is a STEM-sational time!

Students work hard in preparation for the parade, doing research, building floats and making balloons! This project will give them headbands and glasses to tie the festivities together as they march forward through the school showing off their stem creations!
