My Students

My students are from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. They love being in school and learning new things. We are a Title 1 school and the majority of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunches.

The majority of our students come from low-income backgrounds and we have a very high population of English Language Learners.

Their Hawaiian culture is very important to them and is incorporated into our school curriculum as much as possible.

Our students are amazing, resilient, and very hard working.

My Project

These wish list items, including the class set of "Restart" will get students excited for reading and guide them in decisions in the classroom and community. Flexible seating and positive behavior reinforcement will help establish an Ohana in this inclusion space. The students at Kealakehe Elem. deserve to have new books to get them excited and a classroom that makes them feel safe and ready to learn. The items within this wish list will help provide that environment for them throughout the school year.
