My Students

This is the most amazing group of children I have ever met. They are bright, talented and great thinkers. My students work hard and want to do well in school They love to learn new things in new ways. Most of them do speak English, but they have diverse families, socio-economic statuses, and backgrounds. They live in diverse neighborhoods. Some children have access to internet and books; others do not. They all learn in different ways, and as a teacher I am constantly trying to challenge them.

My Project

Children work hard all day. They are busy thinking, reading, writing. They need time to explore and grow in the area of engineering. With the requested materials, students will be able to creatively build and design structures and explain how they work. Many of the materials requested are building materials, ranging from Magna-Tiles to Nature Blocks (like Lincoln Logs) to Bristle Builders. All of these building materials will help my students explore and be creative with their designs; this is often an area of their brains that isn't fully tapped into during the regular school day. Hopefully, these STEM materials will encourage students to continue a love of learning and a love of creating. We all know that the world needs more inventors and creators.
