Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, artistic, energetic students from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status. They are between the ages of 6 and 8. Many times 75% to 85% of my students are on free or reduced lunch.
My classroom has a mixture of students from ESE to Gifted to ESOL.
My English as a Second Language Learners are between Levels 1-4, and my many of my ESE students have a variety of learning accommodations and although sometimes struggle they never give up and everyone of them is full of potential and eager to learn! It's my job to ensure that they have all the tools they need to succeed!
My Project
If this project is funded, we will use these magazines as a motivational tool to encourage the students to engage in exciting and hands on learning. Using different learning materials helps to differentiate the instruction so as to reach each student and makes learning exciting. The Scholastic News magazines will teach about current events and supplement our lessons to help ensure that the students develop not just the knowledge but a love of Science and Social Studies that will carry with them throughout the years. The magazines will also help to develop their reading fluency, making it fun and educational!
