This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first graders are becoming independent learners! I work with an amazing group of at risk students at Leonard R. Flynn Elementary School in San Francisco's Mission District. Our school is situated in a traditionally under-served community with a majority of English Language Learners.
Based on the fact that English is the second language for most of my students, they struggle to learn English letter sounds and spelling patterns.
I am looking for a fun resource to help support my students in their efforts to learn English phonics. These clay stampers are just the thing for active children to play and learn simultaneously.
Everyday students participate in a learning block that we call "Plan, Do and Review." These are basically free choice learning centers where students have freedom to explore and experience traditional academic concepts in fun and engaging ways that they get to choose. Clay/Playdough is one of our learning centers during this block of time. Students pair up and use their imagination to create things, use letter stampers to spell things, etc. The set of clay stampers that I am requesting would greatly enhance this particular learning center.
By supporting this project, you will provide an engaging experience for my students to interact with the English alphabet in order to develop their reading and writing on a daily bases.
