My Students
My class of kindergarteners is a fun group, who are eager to learn! They attend school in a large district outside of Denver, Colorado. It is a Title I school, which means that there is a high percentage of students from low-income families. There are about 600 students in the kindergarten through 8th grade building, and over 85% of the elementary school children qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the struggles that many students face outside of the classroom, my students are excited to come to school and ready to learn!
My Project
Throughout the day, my students engage in learning at different math and reading centers. These materials would provide hands-on, engaging activities for them during that time. The number sequencing puzzles, counting cars, number match, and ice cream shop would all be used during math. The letter building puzzles and simple word building would be used during literacy. I plan to use the dot art painters throughout the day for different letter and number recognition activities.
In addition to learning letters and numbers, students will develop lifelong social skills working with friends.
It is very important that children learn to cooperate with others to work toward a common goal. Learning is more fun playing games and putting puzzles together. My hope is to give all of my students the tools they need to be successful, all while having fun in kindergarten! Thank you for considering a donation to our classroom.
