My Students

There is no dispute that kindergartners have very busy little bodies. This year, my class is especially high energy and very excited to learn. Unfortunately, it is hard to fit in all the movement their bodies crave in a day while still giving them ample learning opportunities. They need to move!

My class this year is incredible.

I can see the hunger for learning in their eyes and the thrill when they understand something new. At the same time, I can see that they need movement. I try to stop for brain breaks and recess when I can, but we have a big job in kindergarten to learn as much as we can so we are ready for first grade! These kids get "The Wiggles" in a bad way, and it takes a toll on our learning. Instead of soaking up the information we discover in class, they are finding outlets for their excess energy. Often this affects their learning.

My Project

Fitness balls? In kindergarten? YES! Instead of playing with their pencils, pinching their neighbors, kicking the tables, or needing to stand up and walk around the room, these kids will have the opportunity to get the terrible "Wiggles" out just by sitting at their table! By having the freedom to bounce, sway, and balance on their ball, their muscles are working. This leaves the brain free to discover, explore, and learn. We will be taking a good amount of time discussing the safe way to use the balls, making certain every student knows the safe and responsible way to sit. It is my hope that with the balls to keep their busy bodies busy, they can focus on the important information we learn in kindergarten. Studies show that these balls have a dramatic effect on student success, and I believe my kids deserve this!

Saying these fitness balls will make a difference is an understatement.

They will change the entire dynamic of the classroom! Even as an adult I cannot sit still for an extended period of time, and I believe that these fitness balls will open an entire new world with endless possibilities for my kindergartners. Success is inevitable, all thanks to a few fitness balls!
