My Students
"The future of the world is in my classroom today." Ivan Welton Fitzwater
My school is an elementary school, and my students are first graders.
61% of our students are economically disadvantaged. The school provides a safe, encouraging, and positive environment for all students. The students are told, that it's okay not to know something, but it's not okay not to try. My students come to school every day ready to learn. I want to make sure that every student has the resources in the classroom to make them a successful student.
My Project
My students are a high energy group of first graders. I am requesting 12 balance ball seats to optimize their attention and concentration in the classroom. There are so many benefits to these flexible seating options. Not only does it allow students to bounce and shift when their body needs it, but it also allows them to work on their posture as they sit.
My first-grade students will be more engaged if given a flexible seating option.
My students will love the balance ball seats. These seats will allow them a choice in where to sit so they can concentrate and produce their best work. Right now my students are allowed to sit where they need to in order to complete their work. Giving my students choices keeps them motivated and makes them more comfortable so they can achieve their best learning.
My students will be able to use these seats during independent work time, reading, writing, math, and during whole group instruction on the rug. These seats will give my students the freedom to shift their position as needed throughout the day.
