I am lucky enough to have the best job in the world!

I come to school everyday to work with an amazing group of fifth graders who have a strong sense of community and dedication to their education. When I look at the 26 faces in my classroom I cannot help but think I am looking at the next surgeon, professor, CEO, or president. With this strong dedication I often have to remind them that to work hard we also need to play hard. One way we introduce fun into our classroom is by refusing to use chairs! Instead of chairs we use stability balls to sit on during work. Students can absolutely use chairs if they prefer, but many do not!

My Project

I began using stability balls instead of chairs four years ago and have seen tremendous positive changes in my classroom. Students are more engaged and excited about learning and being a member of our classroom. Unfortunately, stability balls definitely need to be replenished as years go by. Many of the stability balls in my classroom are being patched together and I dread the day when students will have to go without because there is not enough for everyone! Seven stability balls will give us enough for every student to have their own and I can begin replacing stability balls that are not up to standard.

With these resources we will see excitement and enthusiasm in the classroom.

New materials mean so much to our students! I wish the donors could see how much your donations mean to our classroom. With the holidays coming up what a great way to spread the spirit of giving to a deserving classroom!
