Energy, passion, excitement, and determination are all words that come to mind when I'm asked to describe the room full of scholars that walk in my door every morning for 180 days. Their home lives are varied and a large percentage of them come from families that qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. Many of them have very supportive, involved parents, and others have parents whose attention is spread very thin. But no matter their lives at home, they are so excited to learn new things and love coming to school each day!
My Project
Our students spend a significant amount of time each day sitting and focusing. During their unstructured play times, they need equipment to be able to apply all of their unused energy in a productive, cooperative way. Our students are experts at starting up their own soccer games. They love learning how to play kickball. They play catch with footballs and HORSE on the basketball court together every day.
We teachers love these activities because they give students opportunities to stay engaged with productive activities and practice cooperation and teamwork in real life situations.
This equipment will ensure that our students have the tools they need to continue applying their passion for sports every day at recess for the entire school year.
