FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Jones's classroom raised $216
This project is fully funded
Getting sixth graders to be engaged in practice activities can be quite trying, to say the least. But, I have found that when we pull out the "sacred" whiteboards, all minds are focused as if there is a race to the end!
Having enough supplies for students is always a juggling game in an urban setting. I was able to "get a deal" on whiteboards. Can you believe that for a long time, we have used (new not old) cloth diapers as erasers? Recently, I was able to get "real" dry-erase erasers and our life is much simpler, now.
But, we still have a problem. Trying to cut corners, I frequently must replenish the dry-erase markers by going to a dollar store. The last trip there was not too successful. Oh, they had plenty of markers but they were definitely of inferior quality. No wonder, they made their way to the discount bin. When opened, several were already dry, others could not tolerate a simple try out and the tips popped back into the tube. The vendor would not take them back nor exchange them. So much for opening all the packages before trying them out! If I were in a more affluent school, I might be able to ask the students to provide their own dry-erase markers. But, that's not to be.
What we need is DRY-ERASE MARKERS so that we may practice our math, spelling, vocabulary, cursive writing and quick response answers in order to improve our minds! There's something about the smooth motion of a dry-erase marker and the whiteboard that makes the brains want to really work! Please help us make that possible.
