My Project

My 3rd grade students attend a very small, rural Pennsylvania school. Many of my students come from low-socioeconomic families and over half our school qualifies for free or reduced lunches. However, our teachers embrace this rural advantage and make the effort to break the mold of the traditional classroom setting by connecting our students to their community by utilizing the plethora of resources that our country setting provides us.

Our students are continually experimenting, creating, and thinking critically in new STEM labs and outdoor classrooms to enhance learning, but much of their direct instruction continues to be within the confines of a desk.

Differentiated learning calls for a fluid movement of students based on their academic strengths and weaknesses, including in the manner of how they learn, not just what they learn. I want to bring this same passion for adaptive learning experiences into my classroom and provide my students with collaborative, flexible seating options.

My children need flex-space floor seating chairs to allow them to fidget while they are learning and provide them with the opportunity to move to new learning settings to refocus and recharge. They also need book shelves, totes, and bins to organize their supplies while they are on the move. In an elementary setting, I firmly believe that all students have a bit of kinesthetic learner in them, and throughout a typical school day, we are definitely on the move! Please help us on our learning adventures through our school.
