My Students

The classroom is a safe place for many of my students. When they enter the classroom they know they will be welcomed with a warm smile and challenged in every aspect. I spend hours planning lessons to fit the needs of my students. With such a diverse group of students, it is important that we are able to have flexibility in our classroom.

This class is filled with 36 amazing 2nd graders who have the potential to change the world.

These kids deserve the best learning opportunity possible. Through this program I hope to be able to provide for them. No child should miss out on an opportunity because of the lack of resources.

Teaching at a Title 1 school has opened my eyes to the many different needs of my students. Every students at our school receives free lunch and breakfast. 56% of our students are ESOL and 12% are ESE. My students have the drive and motivation to learn something new everyday. An education is the best gift I can give them.

My Project

Because of the diverse needs of my students, small group time is extremely important in our classroom. This allows students to work independently, with each other, and with the teacher to practice important skills. Currently in our classroom we use a 5 center rotation. During one of these rotations the students spend time with me in small group. We do not have a kidney table and have to sit on the floor. This does not allow for optimal learning.

Diverse seating options can help my students to succeed!

If we had a kidney table they would be able the efficiently work in small groups and make the most of their time with me. This would allow me to properly monitor each student and provide the assistance necessary. Please help these students succeed!
