Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nearly 300,00 people die annually from heart attacks. Many of them can be saved when immediate CPR/AED procedures are administered. Their are several teachers in our school that are trained in teaching this course, but we need the equipment. Please help our students learn this life-saving procedure.

Students in this class are typically seniors who are about to enter college and/or the working force.

Since our high school is in an urban district, the greater portion of our funds go toward academic needs. Therefore, purchasing equipment for CPR/AED training is nearly impossible. Although we recieve half the funding that similar school districts recieve, our students state exams were amoung the top two in the state. Our school has done well to prepare our students to handle academic challenges, and now we want to prepare our students to be prapared to deal with civic and community responsibilities as well.

My Project

There have been occaisions that we have been able to borrow the practice AED/CPR trainers from other schools. Watching the students perform the skills was inspirational. You could see the empowerment they were feeling as they acquired these techniques. Having students trained and certified in CPR/AED life saving techniques will prepare them to handle emergencies. The more students that participate in this training the greater chances of just one more person being saved.

If one of our students saves just one life, all of time and effort that they have put into their training will have been worth it.

Please help our students to learn this important, necessary and very worthwhile skill.
